Tennessee Wedding Photographer
I’m not usually one for writing long posts, but there are so many things about this Roan Mountain elopement that I would like to say.
Jen and Garrett found me after seeing work I had done for friends of theirs who had eloped in Key West. They were planning on eloping somewhere in Tennessee but didn’t have the exact location picked out yet. So, after learning what kind of place they were looking for, I actually had the opportunity to help them pick the spot they were going to get married! And not only that, but I was able to help Jen in her search for finding the perfect vendors for their big day. I felt so honored to be trusted with helping bring the vision of their elopement to life!
All that being said, there are some things that are just out of our control. Specifically, the weather.
In the months leading up to their big day, we had all been praying for perfect, sunny weather. However, the day came, and the mountain was literally covered in a cloud.
At first, this honestly made me super anxious. I was worried that the weather would be a huge disappointment for them and that their photos wouldn’t turn out the way they had envisioned. However, this fear of mine slowly faded away as the rest of the day unfolded.
My Favorite Moments
The Letter Exchange
It started in the hotel room when they exchanged written letters to each other before we left to hike up the mountain. As Garrett read Jen’s letter to him, towards the end he just started crying. And, covering his face in his hands, he kept saying “I just love her so much!”. He told me about how undeserving and lucky he felt to be marrying her.
The First Look
Then, right before their first look on the mountain, Jen stepped on a huge thorn in her BARE FEET. But, that didn’t stop her from getting to Garrett. She ended up making her way up to him for one of my favorite first looks of all time. It was windblown, on the side of a foggy mountain, and there were happy tears (mine along with theirs, haha!).
The Hike
The whole hike up the mountain as I walked a little ways ahead of them I could hear him telling her over and over again how beautiful she was to him and both of them declaring their love for each other and how they were so happy to be hiking up this mountain together, no matter the fog or chilly wind.
Throughout the ceremony and the rest of the time we spent on that mountain, they didn’t complain even ONCE about the weather, because they were so focused on each other and enjoying the most important day of their lives together. If this is any indication of how their marriage will be, I’d say this is the start of a real life happily ever after and a lifetime of love and adventure.
