Flower Maternity Shoot

Looking for different studio maternity photo shoot ideas? If you want photos that are beautiful, creative and unique, maybe a flower maternity shoot would be right for you!

How do I create a pressed floral maternity design?

When I originally had the idea of incorporating pressed florals into a maternity shoot I never would have dreamed that the result would be this beautiful! The supplies needed are:

clear lash glue (we used the DUO brand)
pressed florals (I bought them from Etsy but they can be found on amazon or craft stores as well)
scissors

Kayla Flores provided the maternity shoot makeup and hairstyles as well as the lash glue that we used to stick the flowers on the soon-to-be mama’s belly! When we were creating the floral design we started with a base layer of leaves and greenery and then added the flowers to the top layer. From there we built it up gradually until we achieved the desired look. We trimmed the stems as needed.

Pressed flower maternity shoot.

We used lash glue to attach each pressed flower and arranged them all in a semi-circle design on one side of her belly.

When to do a maternity shoot?

This is such an important consideration when you begin planning out your maternity photoshoot! Typically anywhere between 28-32 weeks is best for showing your bump in your maternity photos. During this time it’s usually also easier to move around and get comfortable during the pictures than it is during the later parts of pregnancy.

Maternity shoot hairstyles

Kayla used a few different hairstyles throughout our flower maternity shoot. Check them out below!

The first hairstyle was long, relaxed waves.

For this second style she braided it into a fishtail braid on one side, leaving the other side down and wavy.

For the final hairstyle she created a beautiful updo!
